Small Electron Beam Accelerators
B. Laurell, E. Föll
Presentation at RadTech Europe 2013 Exhibition & Conference for Radiation Curing. 15-17 October 2013. Basel / Switzerland
Foreword
This presentation gives an overview of the current state of industrial electron beam development.
It is not possible to present all of the technical details which one might wish because of the need to protect the proprietary interests of the firms engaged in the production applications and technology development. Still, the general view can be seen clearly.

Dosimeter overview and the use of Dµ for Calibration
B. Laurell, E. Föll
Presentation at RadTech Europe 2009 Exhibition & Conference for Radiation Curing. 14-15 October 2009. Nice / France
Introduction
Irradiation with low-energy electrons (75 - 300 keV) results in dose gradients across the thickness of the dosimeters that are typically used for dose measurement at these energies. This leads to different doses being measured with different dosimeter thicknesses irradiated at the same energy, resulting in difficulties in providing traceable dose measurements using regerence dosimeters. This paper will discuss different dosimeter systems and how to use th Dµ to calibrate and measure does from low energy electron irradiations with measurement traceability to national standards.

New Multi Purpose Laboratory Electron Beam Equipment
B. Laurell, E. Föll
Presentation at RadTech Europe 2007 Exhibition & Conference for Radiation Curing. 13-15 November 2007. Vienna / Austria
Introduction
More environmental protection requirements force users of solvent-based coatings to look for an environmentally safe procedure that emits considerably less solvents or cracked products into the atmosphere and water.
Also the new EC Super directive regarding migration of less then 10 ppb into the food will force the packaging producer to look for new technologies.
The chemistry has new groups of products to offer:
- Systems with low content of solvents and with high solid contents
- Coating materials containing water
- Coatings with solid resin in powder form
- 100 % solid systems.

Industrial Application of Electron Beam Curing in the Field of Coatings
B. Laurell, E. Föll
Presentation at RadTech Europe. 29-31 January 2003. Berlin / Germany.
Introduction
There is an ever-increasing demand for solvent-free systems for surfaces coating. During the curing process there should be no emission of harmful substances into the atmosphere or water. In addition, after the curing process is over, there should be no odour emissions from the surface.
These two requirements are already making Electron Beam curing (EB) the focus of ever more attention, not least because this technology has been used for a wide variety of applications in recent years due to the many other benefits it offers.
EB is the abbreviation for a environmentally safe, heat and solvent free technique: Electron-Beam curing.
Nevertheless, success is only possible if the user, the chemical supplier and the plant manufacturer collaborate fully - not only during the planning phase but also in the construction of the curing line and later during initial operation.
